Rita was born in Richmond, Indiana but was raised in St. Petersburg, Florida.  Married John (BMC John Bunting, Ret.) in 1976.  She joined the CPOAA in 1981 in Cape May, New Jersey.  Rita was very active in the Cape May Unit and held all the offices. Her first convention was in 1983 and she has only missed two since then.

In August of 1986, Rita became the CPOA Auxiliary National Treasurer, and served until August 1990. In August of 1991 she was appointed National Vice-President. In August of 1992 Rita was elected Treasurer and held that position until August 1994. From August 1994 to August 2004, she was Vice-President.  Rita has also served as Membership Chairperson since 1995.  The Auxiliary is very fortunate to have her in this role as well as her knowledge and experience with the by-laws.

      Rita has one son who is a Chief in the Coast Guard and is stationed at Barbaras Point. Also in the family is her Grandson who is in the Jr. ROTC.  Rita’s hobbies are fishing and sewing.

   Laurie joined the Cape May CPOAA in 1992. She has been an active member, serving on several committees as well as held the office of Unit President (two terms) and Secretary. Corpus Christi was host to her first convention in 1995 where she served as a delegate and committee chair.
   National CPOA Auxiliary offices include President, Vice President and Treasurer. As part of the team that supports all Units, her commitment to the entire auxiliary is a dedicated one. From assisting new Units to new ways of fundraising, she enjoys it all. At the 2004 St. Louis convention, Laurie was the 3rd CPOAA member to receive the prestigious Platinum Award for her dedication to the Auxiliary.
   Laurie has a B.A. Degree with a concentration in Business Management and works for a title company in St. Paul, MN. She also is a Certified Massage Therapist and owns her own business. Other interests include bicycling to raise money for the MS Society, riding her motorcycle, and enjoying the company of good friends as well as: MAKING TIME TO RELAX.
