Military Victims of Home Foreclosures
TMCers, the House Oversight and Gov’t Reform Committee, Minority Counsel, is requesting TMC help in locating military members as outlined below.
The basic idea is to invite military members – active duty, National Guard or Reserve – and veterans who have been ‘foreclosed’ in violation of the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) to contact the Committee to discuss their situation.
If you know someone who meets the criteria, below, and would be willing to discuss their situation, please invite them to contact Leah Perry, Minority Counsel, House Oversight and Government Reform Committee:

Primary Area of Interest: Mortgage Servicers failing to abide by the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA);a.
Those whose homes were foreclosed on during the course of deployment;b.
Over charging of fees;c.
Instances in which the mortgage servicers may have attempted to foreclose during the course of deployment;d.
Those Servicemembers involved in the JP Morgan Chase Settlement, which alleged SCRA violations;e.
Servicemembers that have entered or in the process of entering complaints (i.e., court filings) against a mortgage servicer due to an alleged SCRA violation or related issue;f.
Servicemembers security clearance placed at risk due to a pending or completed foreclosure; and,2.
Secondary Area of Interest: Those that were disqualified from the Housing Assistance Program because the individual missed the deadline due to deployment. Please feel free to include other areas of interest involving HAP.Please note that the above is not exhaustive. Please include other individuals/subject matters involving home foreclosure that you believe may be of interest. Also, please be sure to submit the homeowner’s information, including his/her name, branch of service, name of mortgage servicer, key issues and contact information.
As Co-Chair of TMC’s Veterans Committee, I am passing this information along as a courtesy. (As you know, TMC has a standing goal of strengthening protections under the SCRA, and we are actively tracking bills to do that).
