ADDRESS:  Houston Food Bank, 535 Portwall Street, Houston 77029

• Arrival:  Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your shift's start time to park and check in.
• What to bring: Please bring only what will fit in your pockets, because personal items are not permitted in project areas, to ensure food and volunteer safety around moving equipment. You are welcome to store bags, backpacks, purses, and food/drink in our limited number of complimentary lockers.
• Attire: For your comfort and safety, the following dress code is required:
  • Closed-toe and closed-heel shoes
  • Pants/shorts/bottoms at least mid-thigh in length (knee-length for shifts in the Keegan Kitchen)
  • Shirts/tops with sleeves, no midriff exposed
  • No offensive or inappropriate messaging
• Refreshments: Complimentary water, coffee, and tea are provided for all volunteers. Additional refreshments are available for purchase from our Texans Café, Starbuck Coffee Bar, and Grab n' Go station in the lobby. Proceeds from these sales help support the mission of Houston Food Bank.
• Food donations: Remember to clean out your pantry before your shift! Bring any food items you'd like to donate--regardless of dents or expiration dates.
• PARKING:  Houston Food Bank has 2 parking lots -- Front Parking Lot and Overflow Parking Lot

 Front Parking Lot: After arriving at Houston Food Bank (535 Portwall Street), please pull into the front parking lot; drive to the right (along the fence-line) past any parked trucks (you will see the loading docks on the left). Travel to the east end of the parking lot. On the left, is the front entrance. Park in an available spot and then enter the building through the front entrance to the LOBBY Welcome Center for check-in.

 Overflow Parking Lot: If there is not a space in the Front Parking Lot, then please travel back out of the Front Parking Lot (the way you came in).  Turn right as you pull out of the parking lot (onto Portwall); travel over the railroad tracks; turn-in at 1^st right into the Overflow Parking Lot.  Park in an available spot, and enter the building through the back entrance. Then follow signs to the LOBBY for check-in at the Welcome Desk. NOTE: Please enter the back doors.  DO NOT walk on the road and/or over the railroad tracks.
